Bfd Man Pleads Guilty to Sex With Child A Bradford man pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. 33 year-old Robert Crowl Jr. entered the plea before Judge John Yoder. Crowl had been charged with assaulting a 7 year-old child over a course of three years. He is subject to a lifetime registration under Megan’s Law. Crowl will be sentenced on May 24. He is facing a minimum of five years in prison.

WESB reports:
Bradford City firefighters responded to a fire at 11 Lincoln Avenue Thursday morning. Firefighters say a pet apparently dragged a pizza box across a floor furnace where it caught fire. They used a water can to extinguish the fire. Firefighters say there was minor damage to the home owned by the Louis Verrelli Estate. from wesb.com

WESB reports:
A Port Allegany man was injured when the car he was riding in was struck by a bus at the intersection of Minard Run Road and High Street in Bradford Township Thursday morning. Bradford Township Police say a Bradford Area school bus driven by 46 year-old Raymond Kelly pulled into the path of a car driven by 21 year-old Corrie Taylor. A passenger in the Taylor car, 38 year-old Mark Taylor was taken to BRMC with back and leg pain. There were 32 children on the Bradford Area school bus. None were injured in the accident.

75 dollars worth of beef steaks were stolen from teh Pine Acres Country club, along with about 100 dollars in beverages.

District Judge Dom Cercone waived charges to court agains 27 year old Ralph Carr for charges of posessing the stolen meat.

On February 8th, 33 year old Robert Crowl Jr of Bradford petitioned the court for a lowered bail.

Crowl is charged with numerous alleged sex offenses against a child.

He told the court that his SSI income is not enough to pay 20 thousand dollars in bail.

Crowl says he is homeless after spending six months in jail, and intends to find temporary housing at the Riddell House in Bradford.
Assistant District Attorney Scott Klein told the court, "The Riddell House is the scene of more crimes than you can count."

Klein said that the Riddell House would be innappropriate for Klein considering the charges against him.

WESB reports: Bradford city and township firefighters rolled to fires Wednesday accidentally started by residents trying to thaw frozen pipes. Bradford Township firefighters responded to a fire at 7:30pm Wednesday night at 556 West Washington Street. The fire was contained to the kitchen. The home is owned by Greg McIntrye.

Bradford city firefighters answered a fire call at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at 13 Bushnell Street. The fire was contained to the rear wall of the structure. The house is owned by Dan Ross.

And, City firemen responded to a call at 12:23 Wednesday afternoon at 86 Congress Street. The fire was contained to a side wall. from wesb.com

WESB reports: A Bradford man is seeking to have his bail lowered while he awaits trial on alleged rape charges of a child. 33 year-old Robert Crowl Jr. has been jailed for six months and is unable to make his $20,000 dollars bail. Judge John Yoder listened to testimony from Crowl and his attorney and took the motion under advisement. from wesb.com

A Bradford man was arrested Sunday morning after pulling a knife on patrons at Players Downtown in Bradford. 25 year-old Donald Hoffman was charged with several counts including terroristic threats, assault and public drunkenness. Court Records indicate he was intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

WFRM reports:
njuries were reported following a three-vehicle crash Saturday a half mile south of the McKean County village of Aiken. Authorities said a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Mallory Stewart of Port Allegany spun out of control on icy Route 346 and crossed over into the path of a Dodge Stratus driven by Ashley Williams of Bradford. Deborah Gross who was traveling behind the Williams coupe, swerved to avoid the crash and her Toyota van slid off the road into a tree. Williams suffered serious injuries while her passenger Michelle Williams of Smethport and Stewart both received minor injuries. Gross was unhurt.

WICU Reports:
A McKean County man charged in an Internet sex sting, is headed for trial. The suspect, 47-year old James Whitman of Bradford, today waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Erie District Court Judge Tom Robie. The judge also refused to lower Whitman's $300,000 bond. Agents from the State Attorney Generals office say Whitman came to Erie last month thinking he would have sex with a 13 year old girl he met on the Internet. But the "girl" was actually an undercover agent posing as a teenager.

A Bradford woman was sentenced to 18 months of probation for misappropriation of funds on January 11.

Frances Paul pleaded guilty to charges that she used money from Judge Barbara Boser's office before it was deposited. Her attorney said in the courtroom, "What she did was give herself a series of short term loans."

Paul told the judge, "I'm sorry for what I did. I should never have done it."

Paul lost her job after serving their for 17 years.

She was also ordered to pay 1000 dollars in fines, and perform 200 hours community service.

Four men waived their preliminary hearings recently before District Judge Bill Todd.

Daniel Stevens, Jr, 25, of Bradford
Timothy Bickel, 19, of Bradford,
Steven Hall, 19, of Bradford
Daryl Grimes, 20, of Smethport

were all charged in connection with Burglaries at the Robert Straight Residence in Turtlepoint in October, and at Dave's Gun Shop on Loop Road in Eldred.

Stevens, Bickel, and Hall are all free on Bail.

Grimes is still incarcerated.

21 year old Dylan Schweitzer of Kennedy Street in Bradford was arraigned on charges that he had sexual contact with a 15 year old girl.

Schweitzer is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful conduct with a minor, statutory rape, corruption of minors, and indecent assault. He's also facing charges for providing alcohol to the minor as well.

He was put in McKean County Jail in lieu of 75 hundred dollars bail, with a preliminary hearing set for Feb 21.

A Jamestown man was sentenced Thursday in McKean County court to time served after an incident in Walmart in Bradford in 2005. 41 year old Jeffery Bloom was given credit for serving 435 days of the sentence and five years probation. Bloom was charged with indecent exposure, open lewdness and corruption of minors after an incident with a child in the supercenter. He has a case pending in New York State too.

No-one was injured in a one-vehicle accident Thursday morning at 7:30am on Minard Run Road in Bradford. Bradford Township Police say a vehicle driven by 28 year old Rebecca Nelson of Smethport went out of control while passing an eastbound car and ended up in a ditch. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

A Bradford man has been arraigned on child pornography charges. 37-year-old Christopher Ausherman of 131 High Street has been charged for allegedly possessing 400 pornographic pictures of children on his computer. He also allegedly had 10 pornographic pictures of children and multiple CDs containing pornographic photos of children at his home. Ausherman has also been charged with 2 drug offenses. While doing a search of his home, authorities allegedly found drugs, paraphernalia and a recipe to make methamphetamine. District Judge Dominic Cercone remanded him to McKean County Jail in lieu of 10 thousand dollars bail.
