WFRM Reports:

An Eldred man has been released on $5,000 bail after being arraigned on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault and indecent assault. Authorities allege that 22 year old Leonard Windsor had sexual relations with a 16 year old girl several times between November 2005 and January of this year. Police claim the two met through activities at a McKean County fire department and that some of their sexual encounters took place inside a fire hall and, a fire department vehicle and Windsor’s vehicle. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 2 in front of District Judge Bill Todd.

A Port Allegany man pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to burglary, theft, and related offenses in connection to a burglary at the Port Allegany Jubilee last August. Christopher Rethmel, 23, will be sentenced on March 1.

Minor injuries were reported for a Mechanicsburg woman following a snowmobile collision Saturday after at the intersection to FR 321 and the Westline Road in Lafayette Township, McKean county. State police staid Carolyn Erno had stopped her Arctic Cat at the intersection and was rear-ended by a machine operated by Jewel Vargas of Harrisburg. Both Artic Cats are owned by Richard Teats of Liverpool, PA.

njuries were reported following a three-vehicle crash Saturday a half mile south of the McKean County village of Aiken. Authorities said a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Mallory Stewart of Port Allegany spun out of control on icy Route 346 and crossed over into the path of a Dodge Stratus driven by Ashley Williams of Bradford. Deborah Gross who was traveling behind the Williams coupe, swerved to avoid the crash and her Toyota van slid off the road into a tree. Williams suffered serious injuries while her passenger Michelle Williams of Smethport and Stewart both received minor injuries. Gross was unhurt.

WFRM reports: The Pennsylvania Game Commission says its is partnering with the National Aviary and Carnegie Museum of Natural History to evaluate how eastern golden eagles migrate through Pennsylvania, and identify areas of potential conflict that migrating eagles face from the developing wind energy program in the Commonwealth. The commission says
the possible increase of wind power on Appalachian ridges may threaten golden eagles as they travel their historic migratory corridor that follows these mountains through Pennsylvania to reach their nesting grounds in eastern Canada or wintering grounds in the southern reaches of the mountain chain. Since all known eastern golden eagle migratory routes track over the Appalachian Mountains, possibly along or in close proximity to ridges targeted for wind power development, the Game Commission must ensure the well-being of this state and federally-protected species - as well as other wildlife - as this growing industry sites turbines between the state's Allegheny Front and Blue or Kittatinny Ridge. The study will use gps transmitters to track the eagles as they fly over Pennsylvania. The data will be used to generate maps to show the specific route usually taken.

WFRM reports: A couple of vandals who caused $1000 in damage to the check-in booth at the Willow Bay Campgrounds in Corydon Township, McKean County during the night of January 20, were recorded on surveillance video while throwing beer bottles through the windows. But Allegheny Site Management, owner of the building, asked police not to release the suspects names after they agreed to pay for the repairs, unless the agreement is not kept.

WFRM reports: Both Kane drivers are being cited for traffic violations following a collision Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Route 6 and The Greendale Road in Wetmore Township, McKean County. State police said the crash occurred when 79 year old Joseph Wolfe, blinded by blowing snow after a log truck passed, turned left onto the Greendale Road in front of a Ford Explorer driven by John Sheaffer. Troopers said Sheaffer tried unsuccessfully to avoid the collision on the slush covered highway.

State police at Kane late yesterday released details about two weather-related crashes taking place last Friday in McKean County. Troopers said 18 year old Matthew Souchik of Lewis Run received moderate injuries around noon time when his Toyota Corolla sedan slid across snow-covered Route 770 in Lafayette Township, struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof. He was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment. Earlier in the day, Frederick Bliss of Olean and his passenger Brian Schillinger escaped injury when Bliss’s Toyota Tacoma pickup slid across both lanes of Route 346 in Corydon Township , spun 180 degrees counterclockwise and slid off the south side of the road, coming to rest on the passenger side in a ditch.

A Port Allegany man has been bound over to McKean County Court on various charges in connection to an incident allegedly taking place just before 3:00 a.m. on December 15. Glenn Gallup, 50 is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, carrying an unlicensed fire arm, terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. State police allege Gallup entered the home of Norma Ostrander on the Upper Portage Road, Port Allegany carrying a .22 caliber gun and that he pointed the loaded weapon at Ostrander and Steven Hardawy. A child was in the house at the time, fortunately no one was hurt. Gallup was remanded to the County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail awaiting further court action.

Four other McKean County residents waived their theft and burglary cases into county court. Daniel Stevens, 25; Timothy Bickel, 19 and Steven Hall, 19 all of Bradford and 20 year old Daryl Grimes of Smethport are accused of stealing three rifles from the home of Robert Strait on Annin Creek Road near Port Allegany between last October 23 and 30th . The guns are valued at $750. The quartet is also accused of breaking a window on October 29 in an unsuccessful effort to enter Dave’s Gun Shop on the Loop road in Eldred. Hall, Stevens and Bickel are free after posting bail while Grimes remains in the McKean County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
