Randall Andreano has been hired by McKean County to serve as a full time
nurse at the County Jail.

The facility must employ a full time nurse if the population reaches more
than 75, and current populations are over that number.

227 Pitt Bradford Students are set to graduate from Pitt Bradford this
weekend. Graduation ceremonies are set for 2 Sunday in the Sport and Fitness
Center.
Olympic athlete Joetta Clark-Diggs has been booked as the speaker for event.

Bradford City Police say that the McKean County Coronors office has not yet
finalized the investigation into the death of a Bradford Man. 59 year old
Roger O’Lay was found dead at his home in Bradford last week.

A Fire on South Avenue in Bradford called out the Bradford Township
Firefighters. Lightning struck a house at about 3PM, and damaged a home
owned by John and Connie Schuster. Bradford Township Fire Chief Dan
Burkhouse says the home is not able to be lived in after severe damage
occurred all through the house.

A Lewis Run woman has been charged after an accident Saturday morning. State
Police say 32-year-old Danielle Rodriguez lost control, left the road and
struck a tree near Westline. Charges are pending.

Hey gang. I'm taking a much needed break away from it all this week. My wife and kids and I are out camping and fishing in Roulette.

I'll try to get some pics posted later on in the week.

State Police warn motorists that April 16 is the deadline to remove snow
tires. Studded tires are allowed from November 1st to April 15th each year.
Fines for the offense vary, depending on the date of the violation.

Embattled former Bradford Regional Medical Center Oncologist Edward Miskiel
is facing criminal charges. Retail theft charges. According to court
documents. Miskiel is accused of stealing a bottle of Motrin from a grocery
store valued at $10.99. Miskiel made news months ago when he was terminated
from BRMC for alleged billing problems, and surfing inappropriate web sites
at work. Miskiel says those claims are false.

A summons for the alleged Motrin Theft will come in the mail.

The body of the man found in the Tuna Creek has been identified. Bradford
City Police and McKean County Coroner Mike Cahill say the body is that of 38
year old Allan Sheldon of Bradford. Sheldon drowned after falling into the
creek near the Sports Café. The death was ruled as accidental.

Four fire calls occurred in Bradford this weekend. Firefighters answered a call at the Bradford Laundry Saturday as clothes caught on fire in a dryer. Clothes then caught fire in the bed of a pick up truck near the Riddle House Saturday afternoon.
Overcooked and smoky food on Elm Street called the firefighters out again Sunday afternoon.And a reported blaze was called in regarding the former Angell’s Entertainment building on Main Street. No smoke or fire was found when the firemen responded.

A blaze on Champlin Hill Road killed one person. McKean County Deputy Coroner Robert Hartle investigated the death. Extreme heat is listed as the cause of death. Positive Identification is unknown at this time. The fire started Sunday morning. The Keating Township home is considered a total loss.

Police in Bradford have not yet released the identity of a 38 year old male body found in the Tuna Creek Sunday.
City Police say they think they have a name for the man, but they are awaiting positive identification. McKean County Coroner Mike Cahill has not yet made a ruling in the death, but it is being treated as an accident.

Smethport’s Jack Rosenswie serves on the Smethport Campus Project Development Committee. He says after several months of planning, the Committee is getting ready to share it’s ideas with the community.
Rosenswie told the Bradford Era:
"The initiative is to bring to the region a school dedicated to forestry studies, which can capitalize on the unique natural resources and attributes of this region. Our initial plans are to meet with a major university forestry school." Discussions have been set with US Congressman and other government officials.

An Emporium man was charged with DUI by State police in McKean County. Officers say 24 year old Shane Goss was pulled over along Route 59 in Keating Township.


A Bradford man has been charged with DUI. 25 year old Charles Bova was stopped along Route 346 in Foster Township. State Police made the stop about 3 in the morning Sunday.
A Lewis Run man was pulled over for an equipment violation, when police suspected that Michael Lipps had been drinking. State Troopers say Lippsfailed three field sobriety tests.

PennDot is under fire from local officials after last week’s snowfall. Apparently drivers were not out to plow the roads early enough, because they were on summer hours.After a flurry of calls to State Representative Martin Causer, a full investigation is underway.

An incident in Liberty Township sent a Port Allegany man to jail. According to State Police, Glenn William Gallup assaulted 43 year old Norma Ostrander, after forcibly entering her residence.

Gallup was arraigned and jailed.

A Maryland womasn recieved serious injuries when her car crashed Sunday on Route 219 near Kennedy Springs.

Police say Jo Beth De Windt collided with a tractor trailer driven by Russel Smith of VT.

The Bradford Era reports that Brian Gustafson, current owner of the McCormack Ambulance service has been served in a lawsuit by the former owners, for failing to make payments after purchasing the business.

Gustafson is filing a countersuit, claiming that Bradford City Fire Cheif and former owner of McCormack Ambulance intentionally tried to destroy his business.

A Virginia man was injured in a crash just south of Kane last Thursday.

State Troopers say Bryan Dawson of Gretna, VA lost control on Route 66, and flipped his truck onto it's roof.

Police say Dawson was distracted while drinking coffee.

He was injured in the crash.

State Police say taht a number of camps along Kandare Camp Lane were busted into sometime last week.

Police are still investigating the break ins. The camp owners names have not all been released.

39 year old Wade Pennington will spend 24-60 months in the state pen for burglary and drug charges.

Pennignton was in trouble over the drug Oxycontin. His attorney asked for a delay in his sentence since his client sustainted injuries in a car crash, and needs to pursue medical treatment. Judge John Yoder set the beginning of the sentence for August 1.

38 year old Mary Niles was sentenced to 90 days probation for theft by deception charges.

The Turtlepoint woman stole money while working at Autozone in Bradford. She was sentenced in McKean County court last week.

21 year old Stephen Crawford appeared before the judge in McKean County Court last week. The Bradford man was determined to be a sexually violent predator, and will spend 10 years in state prison for a sex crime.

Judge John Yoder described Crawford as a "danger to the community".

Assistant Public Defender Doug Garber says of his client, "He's a young man. He's had a difficult life. His mother is incarcerated for murder ... he's somewhat of a victim of his environment."

Crawford was convicted of statutory sexual assault and indecent assault.
