A Port Allegany man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly dropping a
2-month-old baby down a flight of stairs.
29-year-old Darien Dunsing is charged with endangering the welfare of a
child and reckless endangerment.
Documents filed with District Judge Rich Luther say Dunsing was under the
influence of illegal drugs and alcohol when he dropped the baby, causing
serious injury to his head.
Documents also say Dunsing did not seek medical help right away. When the
baby's mother, Jamie Pearsall, returned home, she and Dunsing took the baby
to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Couderport.
The baby was later flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Dansville. The
incident happened February 24. No information is available on the baby's
current condition.
Dunsing's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 17 in front of
District Judge Bill Todd of Smethport.
