WESB.com reportsThe Ludlow man already sentenced to state prison for helping fugitive Ralph "Bucky" Phillips hide from authorities is now guilty of a federal weapon charge. Thirty-one-year-old Todd Nelson pleaded guilty in federal court in Erie yesterday to one court of receiving, possessing and concealing 35 stolen guns. Authorities believe Phillips took the weapons last year from a gun shop in Ellington, New York. Phillips escaped from a Buffalo-area jail in April. Phillips is serving life in prison after pleading guilty to shooting three New York state troopers in two separate incidents, killing one, while he was on the lam. Nelson had previously pleaded guilty to hindering the apprehension of Phillips, who stayed at Nelson's home for 11 days while he was on the run in August. Nelson faces up to two years in federal prison for yesterday's weapons plea.
