The Gas company is generating some heat, but not from furnaces. In fact, it's the fact that furnaces have not been running that prompted them to institute a surcharge if National Fuel's Customers usage goes down. The increase could burn customers out of another 9.95 per month.

750 complaints were filed with the Public Utilities Commission regarding the surcharge.

Now customer's that have weatherized their homes, and made other concessions to try to save on gas usage will see the part of the amount they hoped to save, tacked on their bill.

State Legislators and citizens are trying to put a stop to the surcharges.
