Janel Roller-Riel and Ryan Swanson were charged in 2004 with child abuse after the drowning death of a child Beacon Light Resident at the Heffner Resevoir.

Now, the pair has been cleared by the Department of Welfare of any charges.

The incident occured when 14 year old Dustin Dembiski accidentally drowned while swimming with a group from Beacon Light. Other children were injured in the incident.

Both Riel and Swanson were sentenced last year to 120 hours of community service for endangering the welfare of a child.

The two were reported to the "Child Line" hotline for child abuse by Beacon Light, according to the Bradford Era.

A Judge ruled the accident was NOT child abuse, and the charge will not be held against them.
